Dura - finding the tool at the right time
Posted on November 13, 2025

Getting access to the right tool at the right time is imperative for every race mechanic. That job has been made easier for the NISMO team thanks to our partnership with Dura. Not only has the workshop equipment specialist fitted out our team headquarters, the team also has a modular system which the team takes to the track for tests and races. “We take a mobile workshop with us wherever we go. Having a modular system like with have with Dura makes everything so much easier for us when we get to the track,” Nissan LM P1 Team Manager, Chris Mower said. “The guys getting their hands on the right tool at the right time is very important, especially in a racing environment. A lot of the time if you are going to the garage during the race it is unexpected so making that happen in the minimal amount of time is very important. “The ergonomics of the Dura cabinets are very important. The combinations we had to choose from was almost endless. Each mechanic has their own preferences as to how the cabinets are laid out so having that flexibility is a definite asset.” Each work bay at the team headquarters features Dura’s specialist five-drawer tool cabinets with secure foam inlays as well as multiple 1200mm base cabinets featuring sliding double doors and adjustable shelving.   Dura - finding the tool at the right time was last modified: November 13th, 2015 by Paul...

Gentex rear vision system
Posted on November 2, 2025

How do you look out the back of a Le Mans prototype when you have no rear window? At this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, Gentex Corporation will showcase the solution it provided for Nissan – the Full Display Mirror (FDMTM) on the GT-R LM NISMO race car. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is the premiere automotive specialty products trade event in the world. This year’s show takes place November 3-6, 2015, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gentex’s booth at SEMA (booth# 11679) features one of the GT-R LM NISMO race cars equipped with the complete rear vision package comprised of glare-eliminating exterior mirrors and a Full Display Mirror system. The FDM system consists of a custom, high-dynamic-range imager that captures video of the vehicle’s rearward view and streams it to a unique mirror-integrated display. These same technologies were used on the GT-R LM NISMO race car during the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year. “Gentex is an Official Technical Partner of the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, so we’re incredibly honored to have one of Nissan’s race cars in our SEMA booth this year,” said Craig Piersma, Gentex director of marketing. “Our work on the Nissan race car pushed our development teams and our integration engineers to design a Full Display Mirror system that could handle the ultimate test of performance in the 24 hours of Le Mans. “This development work helped us perfect our Full Display Mirror system, which we just began shipping for OEM applications this quarter.” Gentex’s SEMA display will showcase the OEM production version of its FDM...
